The Premises

The nursery is situated at the rear of Beck House, Beck Row, Mildenhall, Suffolk. The house itself dates back to the 16th century. At the rear of the nursery, there is a lovely miniature farm of twelve acres. The children are actively involved in growing their own vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers totally organically.

Also on the farm, the children are privileged to have the opportunity to help with and learn about a wide range of animals such as:

  • Falabella ponies
  • Rabbits
  • Pure breed chickens
  • An aviary
  • A wild life pond
  • A herd of alpacas
  • Milking Goats

When the weather is wet or very cold, the children continue their rural studies in one of three 45 foot polytunnels.

The children enjoy working in our “yarn barn” with the fleece from our own sheep or fibre from the alpaca where they learn how to spin, weave, felt and dye using only natural dyes grown on the farm.

We have three large, well equipped outside play areas which include a range of playhouses – shop- cafe – hospital for imaginative play. A wide range of climbing, rocking and balancing equipment, a large built in trampoline and much more.

The nursery itself has five large bright classrooms with its own indoor heated swimming pool. We employ a fully qualified swimming instructor. For more information, please see the ‘Classes’ tab.
